Sam has been out of town and I've had a trying week. The heat of 103+ with no AC is enough to drive anyone insane. But taking care of 2 SICK kids by myself all day/night long was enough to put me over the edge. Here is an amusing story from last night about Niko trying to do everything he could against his bedtime routine. He's probably as frustrated with me as I was with him. All of this took place after 9pm.
1. He came out 1x and knocked on my closed door where I was reading with a light on. I didn't answer (he was wearing a diaper, etc). I went to his room when I got a bad feeling. He had taken it off and was standing up peeing against his bed. He is potty trained! Why couldn't he have gone to the potty or just left his diaper on?
2. Later I heard a screeching noise and thought he was screaming... rushed in to find him playing his flute in bed at full volume.
3. The next time he came out, I didn't hear him but heard some crashing sounds. I flew out of my room and knocked him over in surprise rushing out of Jonah's room. He was checking on his brother, i.e. waking him up.
4. I got up to go brush my teeth and saw his light on at 10:45 pm and found he had put his heaviest wool pants on and was trying to get socks on in 100 degree heat. He had thrown all of his clothes out of his bottom 2 drawers. At that point I told him he HAD to go to sleep. He finally seemed tired.
5. This morning when he came out to the living room at 715am (later than usual), he was in a happy mood and brought his tractor library book out to read. A new start of a new day? No. When I went in his room, I saw he had emptied out all of his toys all over the place- including all the small pieces of his construction set AND shredded pages of his library book to the size of dimes. No hope of repair.

we really need some babysitting again...
ReplyDeleteIt's been too hot for Niko to go outside in the daytime and expend some energy...
ReplyDeleteWhat a story! He does have the capacity to amuse himself, however. Was it that truck book he liked so much that he shredded?
What a good boy! I told him to keep you company and don't let you get bored or lonely while his daddy was away! Love him!
