The end of the Trans-Taiga Road is 745 km (462 miles) from the nearest town, which is the farthest you can get by road from a town anywhere in North America.
ReplyDeleteDid I win? Thank God Mike has a test tomorrow. My only chance for a win this year.
ReplyDeleteHaha! No, you're WAY off. And I'm looking for a name of a town.
ReplyDeleteI was kidding. Is it Deadhorse???
ReplyDeleteWrong again. But I enjoy your enthusiasm.
ReplyDeletewait.. NOME
ReplyDeleteYou didn't even look this time!
ReplyDeletedad wanted me to submit that for his account.
ReplyDeleteMeagan had her chance. The right answer is Deadhorse, Alaska.
ReplyDeleteMeagan already tried that and it's not the correct answer. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteUh Hello! Don't you read the posts? I tried Deadhorse. I'm starting to think they are using the wrong map since we both knew the same right answer.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this contest would be such a tricky one. I hope we get a lucky winner soon.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll give it a try. Is it Inuvik, Canada?
ReplyDeleteWell, I thoght I knew what I was doing, but somehow Sev's name was used instead of mine. If the answer's correct, I'll take the credit. If not, it was Sev...

Carol wins! There is another town that you can drive to from Inuvik in the winter when there is an ice road (Tuk), but since I'll be going in the summer, Inuvik is right. No one answered my call for roadtrip-mates. At this point I'll take anyone but what I really need is someone who knows how to change a tire. Check out this site for beautiful pictures of what it looks like up there (what you'd be signing up for).

Wow! Thanks. It's probably the only time I'll ever win. Bragging rights alone would have been enough. Are you sure you want to go somewhere that you can't call AAA road service?!! Would you even get cell phone service up there?
ReplyDeleteCarol
I know how to change a tire!! I did it in the Minnesota winter just a month ago too!
ReplyDeleteCan you plan the trip for the summer of 2010 though because I'll be in clinical rotations in 2011. :(
Mike
YES! We have a taker! I can try to plan for August. The only reason I pushed it so far back was because of Jonah being kind of young to lose his mom for a week. In looking into the trip, the photos to Inuvik look really pretty. But we could also make it easier and do the tourbus from Fairbanks, AK to Deadhorse. Or maybe do both. I'd like to cross 3 Canadian provinces though.
